The owner of the Brooklyn Nets made a big donation to one his new neighbors Thursday.

Mikhail Prokhorov and his sister Irina announced a $1 million grant to the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

It will bring a series of modern Russian films to the academy's screening rooms, allow Russian scholars to take part in BAM events and help send a U.S.-based dance company to Siberia next spring.

They said the goal is to promote more of an understanding between the two cultures.

Prokhorov also said he's doing it to be a good neighbor to the community surrounding the Barclays Center.
