A Brooklyn-based community organization hopes to prevent some of the hundreds of citywide domestic violence cases reported each day.

Mixteca Organization of Sunset Park is partnering with the Safe Homes Project and Lutheran Medical Center.

Together, they plan to link the city's Mexican and Latin American immigrants to domestic violence resources.

Mixteca's president, Dr. Gabriel Rincon, says the new initiative is designed to keep families together and prevent abuse before it happens.

He says the program will also educate immigrants about abuse and what they can do to stop it.
