New York City Fire Department officials are still investigating the cause of a supermarket fire that blazed in East Flatbush, Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon.
Investigators say the fire started in the basement of the one-story building on Remsen Avenue.
They say the stock in the basement created "maze-like conditions" and made it difficult to put out the flames.
FDNY officials said firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading.
"We had a total of four handlines stretched at any given time and in operation. It was a punishing job, as I said, and we were very fortunate that we were able to keep it in the supermarket's cellar," said FDNY Chief James Esposito.
The chief said there were only a few minor smoke-related injuries.
