An elderly woman is dead after being hit by a car Sunday night in Brooklyn.
Isabel Rodriguez, 88, was crossing the street near Stone and Livonia Avenues in Brownsville shortly before 9 p.m. when she was hit by a dark BMW. The driver fled the scene.
Rodriguez was taken to Brookdale Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Those who knew her described her as a loving woman.
"Every time when she comes out she would give me a kiss on my cheek with a smile," said one person.
"She always walked by and kiss every time when we sitting on tenant patrol,” said another.
Police later found the alleged car at the corner of Riverdale Avenue and Watkins Street and arrested 50-year-old Wayne Stokeling.
He faces several charges, including leaving the scene of an accident.
