Critics of the city Parks Department's plans to replace sections of the wooden boardwalk with plastic and concrete have filed a lawsuit in State Supreme Court in Brooklyn.
The group is trying to block the move charging the city violated protocol by not submitting its proposal for an environmental review.
The lawsuit claims the new material would cause poor drainage, beach erosion and other hazards as well as damage the character of the iconic boardwalk.
The city law department says it's reviewing the lawsuit.
