Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez picked up endorsements from three top state Democrats — Senator Charles Schumer, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, and Congressman Jerrold Nadler — in her bid for re-election in Midtown on Sunday.

The three powerful lawmakers endorsed Velazquez in Sunday morning.

Velazquez is running to represent the newly formed 7th congressional district, which covers parts of Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens and was redrawn as a result of redistricting.

In accepting the endorsements, she stressed her legislative experience and cooperation with other lawmakers.

"We have fought many battles and because of our ability to work together we have been successful," said Velazquez.

"She is passionate, she is smart, she is relentless, she is respected by her colleagues and we've worked on so many issues together. It goes on and on," said Schumer.

Velazquez will face off against City Council Member Erik Martin Dilan, economist Daniel J. O'Connor and the former Democratic district leader, George Martinez, in the June 26 primary.
