The Brooklyn Navy Yard is set to get a green addition with benefits for both food lovers and the environment.
Plans were released Tuesday for a 45,000-square-feet rooftop farm, complete with a greenhouse and an accompanying market.
It is being run by Brooklyn Grange, which already has a rooftop farm in Queens.
This new project comes on the heels of an agreement by state and city officials to improve infrastructure along the city's waterways to better manage storm water and improve water quality.
The rooftop farm will soak up rain water instead of letting it overflow into the sewage system, effectively keeping city waterways clean.
