The first Army soldier to be tried for allegedly suspected of hazing, maltreating and assaulting Manhattan Private Danny Chen, who committed suicide in Afghanistan in October, will enter military court in April.

Sergeant Travis Carden of Indiana will appear in a U.S. military court in Afghanistan on April 4, according to an Army spokesperson.

Investigators say the Chinatown native took his own life after weeks of bullying and mistreatment by soldiers in his unit in Afghanistan.

Seven other suspects in the case are still awaiting trial.
