Some New Yorkers are headed to the slammer but they will not have to stay the night.
As part of an open house, the Brooklyn House of Detention - now known as the Brooklyn Detention Center - will open its cell doors on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The 759-bed jail on Atlantic Avenue shuttered in 2003 because of budget cuts.
It is set to reopen in February to take some of the burden off of Rikers Island.
The city says the jail will take in pre-trial detainees from Brooklyn and Staten Island as well as other inmates serving sentences of a year or less.
