A city man was hospitalized in critical condition Monday after jumping from an apartment consumed by flames in Brooklyn.

Fire officials say it started around 10:40 a.m. inside a five-story apartment building located at 29 Cook Street in Williamsburg.

They say a man in his 30s jumped from the fifth floor into a courtyard and was rushed to Woodhull hospital.

The man's roommate was able to escape through the front door.

Two firefighters were also treated for minor injuries.

Officials are investigating why the man jumped from the apartment window and the cause of the fire.
