Many residents of a huge apartment complex in Brooklyn have been without hot water for days.
About 2,000 people live in the East New York complex.
Residents say the water was shut off Saturday evening, and when it came back a short time later, there was no hot water.
Maintenance workers say a pipe ruptured and that multiple holes were found in other pipes.
A spokesman for the management company said crews have been working around the clock trying to make repairs.
Some of the residents have had the hot water restored, but a section of the complex is still without it.
"They said basically that's it until they can fix it. Sorry for the inconvenience, and if we need to take a shower, we can go to the sports club with our ID," said one resident.
"They're disappointed that we have to go take a shower at a gym and then come back to our building, and the temperature is changing. People don't want to take their kids out, they got babies and stuff like that, so it's really disappointing," said another.
Residents say the nearby health club where they were told they could shower only has about seven or eight showers and limited hours.
