One city lawmaker is aiming to put the brakes on cars in Central Park and Prospect Park.
According to the New York Post, City Councilwoman Gale Brewer will introduce today a bill that will entirely eliminate the hours where cars are allowed on the main loop in Central Park and the roads inside Brooklyn's Prospect Park.
Brewer says the move will make the parks safer for cyclists, runners and skaters.
Cars would still be allowed to travel through Central Park crosstown on the transverses at 65th, 79th, 86th and 96th Streets. Those lanes do no interfere with the park's main drive.
