Brooklyn Dodgers fans are mourning the death of the Duke of Flatbush.
Duke Snider died in California yesterday of natural causes. He was 84 years old.
An integral part of Brooklyn's beloved Dodgers, Snider helped to bring the borough its only World Series title in 1955.
A clutch hitter and a skilled outfielder, the Duke shared center stage with fellow New York Hall of Famers Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle during what was a golden age for baseball here in the city.
After moving to Los Angeles with the Dodgers, Snider returned to the city in 1963 for a short stint with the Mets.
He was enshrined in Cooperstown in 1980.
