Schools Chancellor Joel Klein attended his final Panel for Educational Policy meeting Tuesday in Brooklyn.

The outgoing chancellor told the Brooklyn audience he is proud of the work he has accomplished over the past eight years, but added that there is still more to be done.

"So as I leave, what I want to say is, in addition to thanking, is to challenge all of
you and everybody out here this evening. We need to be bolder, we need to find
better ways to work together, because if in the end we don't succeed in dramatically
changing the outcome of our children, I believe we will lose the most important thing that makes America America, which is that education provides the key to the American Dream," Klein said.

Klein said he plans on leaving his position, regardless of whether or not a court dismisses the appointment of media mogul Cathie Black.
