Police and religious leaders in Brooklyn are holding a gun buyback event at two churches today.

The Brooklyn Clergy/NYPD Coalition to Reduce Violent Crimes is sponsoring the "Cash for Guns" event at two locations in Brownsville.

A working handgun can be traded in for a $200 bank card, and a working rifle or shotgun can be brought in for a $20 card – no questions asked.

Guns must be dropped off in a paper or plastic bag or a box.

There's no limit to how many guns can be turned in, but you'll only be paid for up to three guns.

The program runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Brownsville at 357 Chester Street and the Southern Baptist Church at 820 Stanley Avenue.

Organizers say more than 6,000 guns have been taken off the streets since the gun buybacks started in 2008.
