A statue that stands atop historic Battle Hill is getting a makeover in the Green-Wood cemetery in Brooklyn.
A group of young volunteers have been scrubbing, washing and polishing Minerva, the Goddess of War. It's part of a volunteer initiative involving the Green-Wood Historic Fund.
"It's facing the Statue of Liberty, which is the symbol of the friendship between France and the United States so that's a great meaning for us," said one volunteer.
Battle Hill is the site of the Battle of Brooklyn, a major Revolutionary War battle.
Many of the fallen soldiers are buried in the cemetery.
