Police are hoping surveillance video will help them catch those responsible for Wednesday night's triple shooting in East Flatbush, Brooklyn.

The father of one of the victims tells NY1 his 31-year-old son, a 20-year-old nephew and a friend were shot just before midnight on the porch of his home on East 16th Street and Church Avenue in East Flatbush.

The father – who would not give his name – says the men were out enjoying the unseasonably warm weather.

His son was shot in the shoulder; his nephew was wounded in the leg and the friend was shot in the waist. They were all transported to Kings County Hospital and are expected to survive.

There is no word as to whether the suspects and victims knew each other.

The father, who says he was inside in his house during the shooting, says three men were seen running on his property and up Church Avenue after the shooting; however, the number of gunmen is unknown.

Police are looking at surveillance video from several stores in the neighborhood and are combing the area for evidence.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Residents of the tree-lined neighborhood say an incident like this is unusual for the area.

"The neighborhood has improved, still if you go out in the middle of the night it can be a difficult situation, no matter what kind of neighborhood you are in,” said one local resident. “But this neighborhood in particular, I grew up as a kid, I wasn't too far from here, so I can just let you know this neighborhood has improved."

"It is very nice and quiet,” said another. “No shooting, nothing; no troubles. This is unusual to happen in this neighborhood."

"We need more police or something," said a third.

The murder rate in the 70th Precinct, where the shooting occurred, stands at one so far this year; the same number of murders for the same time last year.

New York City Police Department crime statistics show there have been 87 felony assaults in the precinct so far this year, compared to 54 by this point in 2009.

Not far away in the 67th Precinct, also in East Flatbush, there have been five murders so far this year. There were three murders by this time last year.
