After decades of planning, the first segment of the Brooklyn Bridge Park project is finally ready to open.

City and state officials are hosting a ceremony on Monday at Pier 1 of the Fulton Ferry Landing.

The pier offers views of the Manhattan skyline and a wine bar.

Another section of the park, Pier 6, is slated to open in Brooklyn Heights next month.

Other parts the park are already open to the public.

The 85-acre site has been plagued with financial problems, causing delays in opening. In a deal last week, the city agreed to provide another $55 million to complete the project. That's in addition to the $139 million already committed to the site.
