A court has ruled in favor of Continuum Health Partners in its ongoing battle with United Healthcare and Oxford Health Plans.
A state Supreme Court justice is blocking United and Oxford from terminating roughly 1,000 physicians affiliated with Continuum, pending arbitration.
United and Oxford said they could terminate the doctors, because their sole attending privileges are at hospitals in the Continuum system.
Continuum hospitals include St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital, Beth Israel Medical Centers, Long Island College Hospital and New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
If the contract dispute is not settled, tens of thousands of New Yorkers who go to Continuum hospitals and doctors may have to start looking elsewhere, or pay more out of pocket.
