The investigation is continuing today into a deadly bar brawl in Brooklyn over the weekend.

The New York City Police Department says two plainclothes officers responding to a raucous bar fight at the Norwood Palace Sports Bar in Cyprus Hills early Sunday morning, came into contact with an allegedly armed man outside the bar.

Police say Donovan Wilson, 19, turned toward the officers while holding a gun, and officers shot him in the elbow and the hip.

They say surveillance video shows Wilson firing at a security guard who was wearing a bullet proof vest.

Once inside, the officers found another security guard, Kevin White, 43, pointing a .357 magnum at them. Investigators say the officers told him to drop the weapon, when he refused, he was shot in the neck.

White later died at the hospital.

Police sources say White had at least 22 prior arrests, including three that involved guns.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says the plainclothes officers identified themselves and were wearing badges around their necks.

"Way too many guns out there on the streets, and this is another indication of that,” said the police commissioner. “It underscores the dangers police officers face every day. Entering that location, they heard those shots and ran right in."

In all, three guns were recovered from the scene.
