The Mets will look to make it two in a row Saturday at Citi Field in game 2 of the Subway Series.
The Amazins' scored five first-inning runs off Yankees starter Andy Pettitte in Friday night's game, capped by an Ike Davis three-run home run.
They went on to win 6-4.
"Lost two games in a row and you come in and give up five in the first inning, you got two out, you talk about disappointing," Pettitte said.
"The key was to jump out early and let Jon go out there and pound the strike zone and be aggressive," said Mets second baseman Justin Turner. "To take some pressure off him was big for us."
Before Friday's game, Mayor Bloomberg awarded the key to the city to Johan Santana in honor of his no hitter earlier this month, the first in Mets history.
First pitch in tonight's game is set for 7:15 p.m.
