Major League Baseball has rejected the Mets' attempt to get R.A. Dickey's one-hitter against the Rays changed to a no-hitter.

Dickey allowed just one hit Wednesday night, an infield single in the first inning that David Wright had trouble fielding.

The Mets appealed the official scorer's decision, saying it should have been ruled an error instead of a hit, which would have given the Mets their second no-hitter of the year.

Manager Terry Collins said the Mets didn't really expect to win the appeal but gave it a shot anyway.

The Mets won Wednesday's game 9-1.
