New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith is out of jail after being arrested in Florida Thursday night.
Police in Miami Beach say Smith was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on a bench warrant for not having a valid driver's license.
A sergeant says the 8-year-veteran was taken to the Miami-Dade County jail where he bonded out Friday morning.
Smith has a history of driving problems, including suspended licenses and involvement in a 2007 crash that killed a friend.
It's not clear what initially led police to stop Smith Thursday night.
