After weeks of hype, the New York Giants and New England Patriots are set to take the field Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for Super Bowl XLVI.
The game is a rematch of Super Bowl XLII from 2008, when the underdog Giants prevailed over the then-undefeated Patriots 17-14, giving them their third Super Bowl championship.
Madonna is scheduled to perform at the halftime show.
Giants fans walked through Times Square early Sunday sporting their blue jerseys and one man was even willing to show NY1 his version of the famed touchdown salsa of Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz.
"Message for Big Blue? Let's just bring it home baby so I can go to that parade Tuesday. That's what I want," said one Giants fan in Times Square. "I'm excited, I can't wait."
"I got a lot of faith in [Giants quarterback Eli] Manning, I used to watch his dad when I was a kid, so he'll do it. Eli will do it. He's better than his brother," said another fan.
Many people were coming into the city just to watch the game in the hometown of the NFC champions.
"I'm very, very excited, I just came from Atlanta off the Greyhound bus now," said a southern fan. "I'm going to visit my family, see the game with my friends. I'm very excited."
One Giants loyalist came all the way from Toronto to watch the big game here in New York.
"Four years ago, when they won the Super Bowl, I regretted not coming. So I told the wife this year, if they make it, I am taking you to New York City," he said.
Giants fans also made it clear that the game is not just about winning the Super Bowl, but it's also about beating the Patriots.
"As a New Yorker, we all hate the Patriots and Boston sports," said a Giants dan.
The Modell's Sporting Goods store in Times Square was set to broadcast the game live for customers, and provide chips and drinks.
The store also hoped to replenish its dwindling selection of Giants gear with Super Bowl Championship apparel later that night.
"We are going to be open until fans stop coming. And hopefully that will be all night long," said Jon Rape, a Modell's assistant manager.
In case the Giants win, all Modell's stores citywide will be open after the game to let fans buy memorabilia.
"I'll be back at Modell's as soon as they win to get the latest gear," said a fan.
If the Giants are victorious, the Times Square Modell's will be open again at 5 am. Monday morning.
NY1's Kevin Garrity is in Indianapolis for Super Bowl XLVI and he will file reports right through the big game.
