Greta GGerwig: And it's about the year that follows, where she just makes bad decisions, kind of sleeps with everyone she knows and really messes up a lot.

George Whipple: So like a typical Downtown 20-something New Yorker.

GGerwig: Exactly, just like a normal, terrible year.

Whipple: Have you ever had a year like that?

GGerwig: Every year's like that!

"The Killing" actor Joel Kinnaman played the fiance who breaks the engagement, and he was still in character at the screening.

"I don't think she's ever going to get over him, you know? She's not going to find anything more better, so... what can I say, you know?" he said.

Zoe Lister Jones starred in and co-wrote the film. The story was based in part on her personal relationship with co-writer and director Darryl Wein.

Jones: We were in an open relationship for a year, which we made our last movie, "Breaking Upwards," that was loosely based on. So we did our fair share of sleeping around!

Whipple: But it didn't work, did it?

Jones: We closed up shop.

Wein: Speaking for my generation, reporting from the belly of the beast, so to speak.

"Saturday Night Live" actor-comedian Jay Pharoah is hoping for a sequel.

"I'm there for her through all these instances of hedonism and I, myself, don't get any," says Pharoah. "But it's fine, 'cause 'Lola Versus 2' comes out, you best believe she gonna be with Randy, boy. We gonna make some Barack Obama!"
