Officials say Twitter is complying with an NYPD subpoena to share information with investigators about a user who is threatening to open fire inside a Broadway theater.
Police say last week the department's intelligence unit came across a tweet sent by an unidentified user threatening to shoot up the Longacre Theatre in Midtown.
The theater is currently home to retired boxer Mike Tyson's one-man show "Undisputed Truth."
The user posted, "This ain't no joke yo I'm serious people are [gonna] die like Aurora," referring to last month's deadly movie theater shooting in Colorado.
After learning of the tweet, investigators immediately sent an "emergency request" to Twitter to identify the user, but the site initially refused.
The user's page is no longer active.
The NYPD has dispatched extra officers to the Longacre, and the theater's owners of the theater say they are taking appropriate actions.
Twitter is declining to comment on the case.
