Cast Of "The Best Man" Remembers Author, Playwright Gore Vidal

As the Great White Way prepares to go dark in honor of playwright Gore Vidal, the star-studded cast of his revived Broadway play is remembering the prolific author and playwright.
Vidal passed away Tuesday at his home in the Hollywood Hills.
His Tony-nominated play "The Best Man" was revived on Broadway this year.
The cast of the show is dedicating the next week of shows to Vidal and all of Broadway's marquee lights will go dark on Friday night.
"He was such a brilliant thinker and you may not have agreed with everything he said but you always thought about it," said "The Best Man" actress Kristin Davis. "He always made you think."
"He was a great supporter and I owe my Broadway career to him," said Jeffrey Richards, the lead producer of "The Best Man." "It was my first Broadway production."
"He was a guy who was a man for the people, not of the people," said "The Best Man" actor John Stamos. "I really think he spoke for the people and, you know, was never afraid to speak his mind and be who he is and that's a valuable lesson."
The best-selling writer was known for his novels and his candor on social issues.
His nephew said the cause of his death was complications from pneumonia. He had been sick for some time.
Gore Vidal was 86 years old.
