A title that's been worked on for more than a decade by filmmaker James Cameron is just one of the latest releases in the world of gaming. NY1's Adam Balkin filed the following report. He's been working on the film for 14 years, and he is Oscar winning director James Cameron, which is why "Avatar" the movie, and therefore "Avatar" the video game are perhaps the most anticipated titles of the year, the last few years, for hardcore fantasy fans and then some.
The game, just like the movie, is set inside a spare no expense, make it as colorful and wild yet as detailed and believable as possible atmosphere. In fact, not that too many of us have the equipment to take advantage of it yet, but the game, just like the movie, can be enjoyed in full 3D.
Getting back to the gameplay though, without delving too much into the complicated storyline, you get to explore the mineral rich planet of Pandora. Only since the air isn't breathable for we humans, your DNA is combined with that of a planet native, a Na'vi to create an Avatar which you control. From there, you have to choose sides in a battle that threatens to destroy this world. That is the super duper abridged version of what's going on here. If you'd like to dig deeper into the world of "Avatar," it's available on all three next gen consoles, the PC, PSP, and the DS for between $30 and $60.
Moving from one of the most anticipated movies of the year to the most successful movie of the year is "Scene It? Twilight." The interactive board game is playable fully on the Wii and DS, by up to four people, allowing fans to gather in one room and prove once and for all who knows Bella, Edward, and all the other vampires, werewolves, etc. best. It features more than 500 questions, many that'll hinge on watching certain scenes and other content related to the just released film. "Scene It? Twilight" will run you $35 for the DS version, $50 for the Wii.
