Going out with the ghosts and goblins this Halloween? The Zagat Shopping Guide recommends M.A.C. Cosmetics in the Flatiron District for tricks and treats to dress up your costume. Senior artist Romero Jenning shares tips on achieving a truly bewitching look, seen above, called "The Gorgeous Ghoul."

"It's really easy," says Jennings. "You basically use a fix plus spray. As a first thing to do, I used a moisturizer all over to really hydrate the skin and then you just start with a chroma cake and I basically mixed light blue with a stronger blue and a white as a highlight around the face and it really was quick I feel like I did this within an hour."

To create the magic of this look at home, Jennings recommends a prominent pout.

"It's important to outline the lip first with a really strong pencil," he says. "So I used currant pencil all the way around, and I even made a guideline of the little swirls, the little drippings that you see here with the pencil and then you can go over it with the lip mix."

To design the vampire's scary stare, Jennings paints on white cream with black eyeliner. He adds on yellow and dark blue eye shadow with two sets of fake eyelashes to the top lid to kick up the drama.

When the witching hour approaches, stop by any M.A.C. store and have the pros do the work for you. Zagat says "they have the 'in' colors" and an "astounding array" of "vibrant powders," lipsticks and glosses.

Out of a possible 30, M.A.C. Cosmetics scores a 25 for quality, a 22 for display, and a 21 for service. Surveyors say prices here are moderate.

On Halloween, prices for a monster makeover start at $50. Appointments are encouraged.
