Parents at a Manhattan elementary school are meeting this morning to discuss their concerns following the arrest of a teacher's assistant last week.
School officials from PS 87 and representatives from the Manhattan district attorney's office will be on hand to answer questions from parents.
It comes after paraprofessional Gregory Atkins, 56, was arrested on charges of attempted criminal sexual act, sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police say Atkins molested an 8-year-old boy in a school bathroom on several occasions.
Court papers also mentioned an encounter with the same child in the school auditorium.
Officials say Atkins later accused the child of lying.
