State Senator Eric Adams is asking New Yorkers to join hands in opposing gun violence.

He's laid out plans for "Hands Across the Brooklyn Bridge" in response to last Friday's Connecticut school shooting.

The goal is to create a human chain across the entire bridge as a way to send a message to lawmakers that America needs tighter gun control laws.

"We're going to keep it intense, and our human chain is saying, 'We are bounded together to solve this problem,'" Adams said.

"The image of many New Yorkers on the bridge, which is a historic venue, can send an important visible message across the country that the time for change is now," said Norman Siegel, a civil rights attorney.

"Hands Across the Brooklyn Bridge" is scheduled for this Sunday at 5 p.m.

Senator Adams is hoping for about 1,000 people to gather on either side of the bridge and complete the chain in the center.
