The New York Transit Museum in Downtown Brooklyn unveiled a new entrance that provides access for visitors who cannot use stairs.
Funding came from Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, the city's Department of Cultural Affairs, and Friends of the New York Transit Museum.
"This addition will bring more visitors both from Brooklyn, New York, America and internationally, as well as be far wider in accessibility for those that have disabilities," said Markowitz.
"For anyone that has any interest in our subway system, any interest in the history of the subway system, it's all here," said Brooklyn Councilman Stephen Levin.
The museum is one of few in the country focused on the history of urban transit. It is housed in a decommissioned subway station.
